Sheriff’s 6th Annual Chili Cook Off

Can you prepare a delicious batch of chili? Do you have a secret recipe? Then you should compete to win the honor of Gilchrist County’s 2015 Best Chili Cook!


Sheriff’s 6th Annual Chili Cook off and Luncheon – Gilchrist Women’s Club – Friday, February 27, 2015



The rules are simple:

  1. Bring your pot of Chili (preferably in a crockpot) to the Gilchrist Women’s Club between 9:30 – 10:45 am on Friday, February 27, 2015. This will allow 15 minutes before the judging begins. After judging, your chili will be used for the Sheriff’s Luncheon.
  2. The cost to enter your chili in the Cook Off is $5.00 (includes your lunch).
  3. Judging will begin at 11:00 am. We will have a panel of distinguished judges who will determine the winner by sampling each entry. The judges will determine the winner of the Best Chili category     by: look, smell, and of course taste. This year we are introducing a new category of “Most Unique.”
  4. A trophy will be given for each category: Best Chili & Most Unique.


After the judging and the winners of the Chili Cook Off are announced, the Sheriff’s Luncheon will open to the public from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm.


Each lunch consists of: A cup of chili with all the fixings, dessert and a drink. Eat in or take out.


All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
